Here it is, evidence of one of my brushes with fame.  I met Tamilee Webb in September of 1997 when she came to Raleigh for the opening of a new women’s club. Not only is she incredibly healthy, but she had a wonderful and caring personality too.

Life Balance is the culmination of many years of being interested in fitness and nutrition.

After the birth of my first child over 16 years ago, I took a look at myself and decided that I needed to do something to make myself a more healthy and balanced person.  I joined Weight Watchers to help me learn to eat a more nutritionally sound and balanced diet.  I learned how to eat for life, not how to diet.

It was at that time that I also made a commitment to begin exercising, and bought my first exercise video, FIRM Volume One.   It wasn't easy...many times I wanted to quit, but I kept on trying and did the best I could.   Since that time, I have continued to exercise at home 4-6 days a week, and have amassed an exercise video collection quickly nearing the 200 mark.  I now LOVE to exercise, and find it to be one of the most enjoyable and stress relieving activities that I participate in.

About 9 years ago I became a certified aerobics instructor, but found that I was more interested in helping people one-on-one than group teaching.  Even though I decided not to teach, I continued to read everything I could get my hands on to keep my knowledge current, and kept contacts in the field.  Two years ago I found out about the certification that I now have, and decided that it was the perfect way to insure that I had the credentials to counsel people on what I have learned via experience throughout the last 10 years or so.

I currently live in North Carolina with my husband, my 14 year old daughter, 6 year old son and 2 year old son.  I am an AFAA certified Aerobic Instructor and teach in a wonderful prenatal and postpartum fitness program, Healthy Moms, as well as at the YMCA and Ladies Fitness & Wellness.  I am also a Weight Watchers leader in the Raleigh area.

I know that making a lifestyle change is not easy.  It takes time for new ideas and habits to become a permanent part of your life.

Sometimes the support of another is just what you need to help you get through the rough times and not give up. Often it helps to have someone that can help you set realistic and reasonable goals, and can help you keep motivated to work toward them.   It is my intent to fill that supporting role for those that are interested.
